Dr. Patrick Byrne has an international reputation for excellence in aesthetic and functional rhinoplasty surgery. Dr. Byrne completed medical school at the University of California, San Diego, and an internship in General Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. He completed a five year residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of California, San Diego and trained under several nationally recognized leaders in Facial Plastic Surgery, gaining expertise in facial cosmetic surgery, rhinoplasty, and reconstruction. Dr. Byrne is certified to perform Facial Plastic Surgery by both the American Board of Otolaryngology, and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and the American Cleft Palate Craniofacial Association. Dr. Byrne is the co-Director of the Greater Baltimore Cleft Lip and Palate Team of GBMC.
David W. Kim, M.D. is a double-board certified facial plastic surgeon, by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and by the American Board of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), the most respected association of surgeons in the world.
Dr. Kim specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, head, and neck, with his office in the beautiful Union Square area of San Francisco. His services range from major facial plastic surgery operations and laser procedures leading to dramatic improvements in appearance to non-surgical, rejuvenating office procedures with little to no down time.
David W. Kim, MD received his B.A. in human biology at Stanford University and his M.D. and surgical residency training in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the University of California, San Diego Medical School. He completed his specialty training with a fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago. While in Chicago he trained with world-renowned facial plastic surgeons Dean Toriumi, M.D, J. Regan Thomas, M.D., and M. Eugene Tardy, M.D. and nasal reconstruction surgeon Gary Burget, M.D.
In 2003, Dr. Kim was appointed as Chief of the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco, where he served until 2009.
He has produced over 50 papers, articles and chapters in the medical literature, and taught at over 50 conferences throughout the world. In addition, Dr. Kim has an extensive research background and is currently conducting several studies that aim to objectively test current methods used in facial plastic surgery and to find objective, patient-based outcome measures for facial plastic and reconstructive procedures.
Dr. Kim remains actively involved in teaching facial plastic and reconstructive surgery in the Otolaryngology residency program and medical school at University of California, San Francisco, and participates in numerous committees for the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He participates in scientific meetings and clinical instruction courses on a national level.
Dr. A. Jay Burns is currently an assistant professor of plastic surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and has his private practice in Dallas. Dr. Burns was born and raised in Garland, Texas. He graduated from Baylor University magna cum laude. He was honored as Outstanding Junior Alumni of Baylor University in 1994. Dr. Burns graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honorary academic society. He completed an internship and residency in general surgery at the University of Utah Affiliated Hospitals in Salt Lake City followed by a residency in plastic surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He then went on to complete specialty training in vascular anomalies and birthmarks at Harvard Affiliated Hospitals. He is board certified in plastic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Burns has chaired many laser conferences and is a noted national and international speaker and authority on lasers and cosmetic surgery, and vascular anomalies and birthmarks. He is founder and director of the Vascular Anomalies and Birthmark Clinic at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Burns has been a member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery since 1992. He has served the society in many positions, highlighted by his presidency in 2006-2007. Dr. Burns is also a member of the America Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Inc., and the American Association of Plastic Surgeons. He has been a national spokesperson for both societies and served as Traveling Professor for the Aesthetic Society for the years 2001 to 2003. In addition, he is also a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Dallas Society of Plastic Surgeons, The Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Christian Medical and Dental Society. He speaks regularly on television and radio and has been quoted in many national, state, and local publications such as D Magazine, Texas Monthly, The Washington Post, Readers Digest, Self, Family Circle, Better Homes and Gardens, Allure and Elle. He has been voted numerous times by his peers to both D Magazine’s “Best Doctors” and Texas Monthly’s “Texas Super Doctors”. He has been featured on the Oprah Winfrey “Medical Miracles” show and has been a regular guest plastic surgeon on Good Morning Texas, WFAA-TV.
Dr. Joely Kaufman is an internationally recognized aesthetic dermatologist who completed her dermatology training at the University of Miami in 2001, where she is now the current Director of Resident Aesthetic Training. She is a board certified dermatologist, specializing in laser treatments of the skin. Dr. Kaufman was a full time faculty member at the University for 5 years before moving her practice in with Dr. Frederic Brandt in Coral Gables, FL. At the University of Miami, Dr. Kaufman teaches dermatology residents as well as plastic surgery, ear, nose and throat (ENT), and oculoplastic fellows in cosmetic procedures and laser surgery. She is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology as well as a board member for the Florida Society for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery and the current President of the Miami Society of Dermatology. Dr. Kaufman lectures both nationally and internationally on aging skin/geriatrics, fractional resurfacing and other cutting edge aesthetic procedures. She is director of the University of Miami / University of Pisa Aesthetic Conference held yearly in Pisa, Italy. Dr. Kaufman also writes a monthly column for Dermatology Times on laser techniques for physicians.
